Travel :: New York City / Ann Hamilton's "the Event of a Thread"

Ann Hamilton's "the Event of a Thread"

Wife and I spent the New Year in New York, visiting some old pals. The highlight of the trip was seeing Ann Hamilton's installation at the Park Avenue Armory. It was a breathtaking piece that pulled you out of the Upper East Side and deposited you elsewhere. It ends this week, but if you're in New York and have time, by all means go see this.

Travel :: Elkhorn, Wisconsin

I spent this past weekend up in Wisconsin - Saturday in Madison, and Sunday in Elkhorn at a friend's lake house. We ate meat, drank beer, sat by the fire, and shot a bb gun... a lot. A perfect fall weekend.

MPMF.12 Thursday Photos

Day one of MPMF.12 is in the books. The Dirty Projectors put on a transcendent show at the historic Emory Theatre and Andrew Bird played a rousing set in the spectacular Washington Park. I was on hand with my camera, snapping photos on behalf of the Queen City Project. Round 2 tonight.

Travel :: Edina, Missouri

Took a road-trip this past weekend to Edina, Missouri pop. 1,176. It's an awesome tiny little town in north-east Missouri, and happens to be where Erin's grandmother calls home. We visited for the annual Cornfest where we took in the parade of tractors, ate fried tenderloins and competed at a championship level in bingo, turtle racing and cow-chip bingo. It was all awesome, and I look forward to the 2013 fest.

We took to the roof on Wednesday with some pals to take in the various firework displays (professional and otherwise) taking place in the urban basin. I snapped these two photos (amongst others, but those didn't turn out as well). Hope everyone is enjoying their weird short week.

Video :: QCP :: Cincinnati Growing Cincinnati

This is a video I had the pleasure of working on as a member of the Queen City Project, handling the editing and some of the photography duties. It premeired at the CEOs for Cities 2012 National Meeting here in Cincinnati, and it highlights the entrepreneurial awesomeness that's going on here in town. The awesome organizations involved, which I urge you to check out are:

MPMF.11 :: Poster Expo & Cut Copy Photos

Libre booth MPMF.11 proper got down in Cincinnati over the past weekend and, while I didn't get to see as much music as I normally would, I was honored to participate in the first Midpoint Midway. The midway was a series of art installations built into standard box-trucks. Lots of interesting and talented folks like Able, Losantiville and Soapbox were in on the action as well. I participated, as a member of Libre, in the Poster Expo which was currated by the creative team at Powerhouse Factories. Ourselves, Powerhouse, Southpaw, Keith Neltner and Rob Warnick all pitched in to build rock poster galleries in the back of our two trucks, and slung some special posters on the premesis.

If you didn't make it down to the Expo, you can purchase most of the stuff we had available at our shop.

You can see photos from the Expo, my Cut Copy Print, and a video I put together that was projected on the wall at the Expo. I also got some good shots of Cut Copy's amazing performance at Grammer's.

MPMF :: Indie Summer :: Weeks 1&2
5830953238_1159607a4b_b.jpeg

The first two MPMF Indie Summer shows went down over the past two Fridays. You, You're Awesome and Javelin kicked things off in week one with fun sets. And Neon Indian fought off the crazy storms last week and brought the chillwaves to downtown. MPMF Indie Summer takes place every Friday night through the summer on Fountain Square. It's free and there's beer and Libre is selling prints and stuff.

The City Flea

The first ever City Flea went down this past weekend on the corner of Vine and Central. There were tons of cool things to buy, eat and see. The organizers reached out to me to document the event, and the above video and below photos are what I saw. Give them a look, and spread the word because the City Flea is an awesome addition to downtown Cincinnati. See you at the next one (July 9).
